For the Club Nights the Kikker Theatre will be transformed into an immersive audio-visual dancehall. Leading international DJs pair with Europe’s top VJs and artists to interpret the theme of optimized humans & artificial empathy through live manipulation of Hollywood depictions of A.I., glitch-art and motion graphics custom produced for the performances.

DJ, producer, and Rwina Records overlord Chafik Chennouf – aka Akka — offers brilliantly neon explosions of exuberance. His work gained support from colleagues like DJ Shadow and Mary Anne Hobbs.

This Utrecht based digital artist & VJ adventures through surreal landscapes which pop with sharp, colour block shapes and sci-fi fantasy.

Krampfhaft creates raw, echoing rhythms resounding with floating synth leads, slick trap beats and dirty bass riffs.

Live visuals: Rosa Menkman
Rosa Menkman plays her self build anti-utopia named ‘Xilitla’. A Janus head mounted on an extruded polygon body follows vectors that seemingly lead to nowhere. Rosa’s work offers cornea-burning surrealism for the eyes.

Boeboe brings tight, boisterous, upbeat sounds. Twinkly club riffs layered upon grinding dub beats promote dance hysteria. Live visuals: Pussykrew

The Bruce Sterling Key Note and College Tour, the presentations of Francois Pachet and Marco Marchini and the Impakt Club Nights are part of the Residenties in Utrecht program.

Together with city podia and festivals, Utrecht City of Music is introducing a new initiative: Residencies in Utrecht. Big names from the world of music, film and the written and visual arts will come specially to Utrecht to share their vision and experience with the City. In workshops, master classes and performances, the appealing, often international artists will appear on local podia, at local festivals and artistic training programmes. Their flown-in vision, knowledge and experience will lift young talent to a higher plane and inspire new ideas. The guests of the Residencies in Utrecht bring collaboration, inspiration and depth to the City.
