Bryan Boyce – State of the Union (USA 2001, 1:46 mins.)

Video remix artist Brian Boyce combines appropriated CNN footage of George W. Bush with clips from The Teletubbies. A sun with the face of Bush shines over Tubby-land. It suddenly starts bombarding, terrorizing and allegedly reforming the land full of rabbits and flowers. The series of States of the Union works was completed in August 2011 with other critical fictions about Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. This episode of Bush the sun over Tubby-land was initially a simple comic skewering of George W. Bush and his defense policies, but after 9/11 it took on a whole new meaning. State of the Union now has a surreal documentary quality.
