A micro society that exudes social, political and creative crisis. A melodramatic portrait of a former institute for Soviet artists with privileges. Its repurposing hasn’t really worked out either.

BIO: Josef Dabernig studied between 1975 and 1981 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Since 1996 he regularly produces short films. His first monograph titled Dabernig Josef: film, photo, text, object, construction explores the expression vocabulary of the artist based on a conceptual interaction within a diversity of media. Josef Dabernig works were at exhibited such as the Manifesta 3, Ljubljana, the Biennale di Venezia (2001 and 2003), but also at the prestigious film festival in Locarno (2002 and 2008), London (2009), Mar del Plata (2007), Melbourne to see (2001), Oberhausen (2006, 2009, 2014), Rotterdam (2000) and Toronto (2006 and 2009).
