Carsten Nicolai transforms sounds varying from computer generated sounds to parts of acoustic piano recitals of Ryuichi Sakamoto into atmospheric ambient. By means of micro-editing, Nicolai works magic by conjuring pieces of music with electronic ‘clicks and glitches’ as basic elements. Or, to quote the words of a music professional: ‘metal machine music of a most beautiful kind.’
