CODE 2025 ONLINE INFO SESSIONS
Get to know more about participating in the CODE co-creation process programme
Are you an artist, designer, researcher, software designer or developer? Or are you working in marketing, law, technology, policymaking or politics? Are you interested in human rights and equality? Are you based in the Netherlands or Belgium and open to working on collaborative projects that can speak to the imagination of a wider audience and inspire them to think about their digital agency? Regardless of what you do, if you are concerned about our digital rights and the lack of agency over the platforms and devices we use, we are looking for you!
CODE is an annual, 5-month co-creation project that brings together artists and non-artists from a multitude of backgrounds. CODE supports them over the entire project in a process of collaborative inspiration, development and production. Since CODE started in 2021 we have supported over 100 participants who worked in small groups to produce artworks, installations, performances, plug-ins, interventions and other projects. These projects have been exhibited and presented at Ars Electronica (AT), the Dutch Design Week (NL), the IMPAKT Festival (NL), KIKK Festival (BE), CPDP (BE), transmediale (DE), Mozfest (NL), ]interstices[ (FR) and many other places.
To organize CODE in 2025 we will partner with Werktank (BE), Kunsthal Mechelen (BE), PrivacySalon / CPDP (BE) and NO School Nevers (FR). In 2025, different from the earlier iterations will be mostly with physical meetups, workshops and hackathons. The Hackathon will be organized in Mechelen, Belgium. Most meetups and workshops will be physically in the Netherlands. Some meetings will be online. Participation is open to anyone living in the Netherlands or Belgium.
Each selected participant will receive a participation stipend of 200 euro, and for the group projects that are developed we provide a small production budget. We will reimburse travel costs and provide stay for the 3-day Hackathon in Mechelen for all participants. Participants will also receive reimbursement of travel costs for all 1-day meetings in Utrecht.
