On 15–16 March and 22–23 March, IMPAKT opens its doors to the Utrecht-based production house Institute of Time. Taking over the IMPAKT Centre, the Institute of Time presents a special exhibition that brings together two of their interconnected VR experiences that explore technology, knowledge, and the climate crisis.

Over the course of two weekends, you get to experience Shadowtime, a critically acclaimed VR installation, and Our Ark, an essay film that investigates our growing obsession with digitally preserving the world. Together, these works form a 40-minute immersive diptych, exposing  the savior complex that lies at the heart of tech culture and raising questions about how technological progress both facilitates and obscures our understanding of climate change. Join us for the Institute of Time Takeover at IMPAKT and step into this immersive, multi-layered experience and visual thought experiment. Decide for yourself: Is technology our salvation, or our greatest distraction?

This special exhibition featuring Shadowtime & Our Ark was produced by Utrecht based production company Institute of Time, making use of the IMPAKT exhibition hall as part of the ShareSpace programme by IMPAKT.

About the Institute of Time
Based in Utrecht, the Institute of Time is a production company for artist-driven audiovisual forms, crafting transformative films and XR experiences. Founded in 2018, it focuses on storytelling that reimagines the present and future through the lens of climate change and technology. Their works, featured at Venice Film Festival, IFFRotterdam, IDFA, and Hot Docs, combine artistic expression with meaningful narratives, sparking reflection and inspiring change.

About ShareSpace
Starting in 2025, IMPAKT opens up its exhibition hall to local initiatives and young curators, in order for them to produce an exhibition or presentation. Through this programme, we offer Utrecht-based and Utrecht-related creatives an opportunity to present themselves.
