Anyone who has visited the exhibition I AM NOT AN ORACLE has likely already had their hands in the sand: in The Dig, an installation by The School of Mutants. The work sits at the intersection of an art installation and an archaeological excavation, inviting visitors to uncover hidden objects together.

The Dig encourages collective play, challenges fixed patterns of thinking, and opens up space for intercultural dialogue. With this installation, The School of Mutants questions the ongoing presence of economic and cultural imperialism. The sand used in The Dig comes from Paleis Lofen—the hidden imperial palace where the city of Utrecht originated. This centuries-old sand contains archaeological remains from the Middle Ages and later periods.

But what exactly has been unearthed? To explore this question, IMPAKT is organizing a special afternoon on Saturday 17 January. Together with archaeologist Herre Wynia from the Municipality of Utrecht, we will dive back into history. Wynia will examine the finds and place them in their historical context. Curator Ine Gevers will be present to answer all your questions about the exhibition, and we will conclude the afternoon with a drink!

Join us and reserve your ticket for the event, which also includes access to the exhibition.
