In Love with the Alien
Mary Maggic
Industrial molecules of the Anthropocene era don’t choose to be agents of toxicity and trauma, but we suffer from their presence nonetheless. Operating at the crossroads of body and gender politics, of capitalism and ecological alienation, Mary Maggic is committed to exposing the invisible lines of molecular biopower. In this talk Maggic unpacks a biohacking and collective knowledge creation practice called ‘workshopology’ to explore the transformational potential of art in communion with Others. Are we willing to communicate with the alien – and as a consequence stand in our own fire and fear?
