A perturbing encounter: A lama stands in a supermarket full of products packaged in colourful plastic in Ecuador’s Los Chillos Valley. The animal looks about, moves its ears, takes a few steps, and removes something from the shelf without putting it back. Foreground and background seem to belong to different universes. Together with another short film shot in Japan, the video forms Manuel Saiz’s two-screen installation Parallel Paradises.
