Impakt presents audiovisual arts and reflections on media culture.
We deal with questions about society, digital culture and media from different angles and disciplines such as arts, academia and technology. Or, to be a bit more specific: Impakt presents critical and creative views on contemporary media culture and innovative audiovisual arts in an interdisciplinary context are presented in events, film programs and talks. Founded as a festival for audiovisial arts in 1988, Impakt organises the annual Impakt Festival, the festival of 2015 took place from 28 October- 1 November 2015 and was themed The Future of the Past: a five-day meet-up with keynotes, panels, artist presentations and screenings at Theater Kikker Utrecht (NL).
The festival of 2017 will take place at the end of October and will be themed Haunted Machines, Wicked Problems. Curators Natalie Kane and Tobias Revell will map the relationship between technology, religion, magic and the occult.
Alongside this, Impakt runs a year-round operation with a residency program Impakt Works and regular Impakt Events: short projects or screenings centering a certain theme, movement, or artist. We also launch annual net art projects on our web gallery and are in the process of digitising Impakt’s screening history since 1988 on our Impakt Online Channel. Feel free to have a look.
