Impakt Event: On the Origin of Androids

Saturday 4 February, 16:30 – 18:00
Transmediale Festival, Studiogallery, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin

Impakt is going to Berlin for the Transmediale Festival!

Dutch artists Koert van Mensvoort and Floris Kaayk reunite with technology philosopher Peter-Paul Verbeek for a collective presentation. Kaayk and Van Mensvoort present their views on the changing definitions of what is natural and human using their provocative cross-media projects. They share a vision on futures in post-natural environments where technology and the human body have become inseparable. Devoid of technophobia and technofetishism, Van Mensvoort and Kaayk present the likely and the possible to encourage us to think about the desirable. Peter-Paul Verbeek will contribute to the presentation with an introduction to the ethical and philosophical questions raised by contemporary technological developments and how this interrelates with Kaayk and Van Mensvoort’s work.

We hope to see you there!

New Impakt Channel Launch

With Impakt Channel, Impakt is trying to create an alternative for traditional media sharing websites, like Vimeo or YouTube. It offers more information, a curatorial selection and a critical view specific to the media art context.

Domestic Heights
Cosmopolites are wrong. Happiness is in little things. Housekeeping never was so pleasing and Sky Radio sounds better than ever. Choreographic explorations evoke unprecedented sensual experiences in sultry hotel rooms. With the right pills the living room turns into the perfect location for “The New High.” With works by Seth Scriver, Penny Lane and Jennet Thomas.
