EMAP CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

European Media Art Platform Residencies 2027

With the support of the European Union’s Creative Europe programme, the European Media Art Platform (EMAP) launches its 2027 residency programme for artists and collectives working in the fields of digital and media art, robotic art, and bio art. The programme is implemented across 15 European countries and supports contemporary artistic practices at the intersection of art, technology, and science.

At the core of EMAP 2027 is a multi-month residency programme implemented across 15 European countries, supporting contemporary artistic practices in the fields of digital and media art, robotic art, and bio art. The programme specifically addresses artistic positions at the intersection of art, technology, and science, while fostering international exchange and long-term visibility.

All applicants are also invited to a kick-off conference in March 2027, hosted by LABoral in Gijón, where artists present their projects and get to know each other and the host institutions.

The residency includes a grant of €4,000 including subsistence costs, a grant of €2,000 for collaborating artist(s), production budget of €4,000, accommodation provided by host, travel expenses up to €1,000, and free access to technical facilities and/or media labs of the host institution. It also includes a professional presentation and the possibility to participate in exhibition tours at our members’ festivals or exhibitions in 2027-2028, plus the possibility to get exhibited by EMAP partner institutions.

Applications should be submitted online at call.emare.eu and must include a CV, (audio)-visual documentation of previous work, and a preliminary plan and presentation of the proposed project to be developed within the EMAP Residencies programme. Collaborating artists do not have to be decided at the time of submission.

Applicants must be EU citizens or taxpayers in an EU member country. Undergraduate and Master students are not eligible but PhD candidates are accepted. Emerging artists, regardless of age and academic degree, are encouraged to apply.
