MAD DOGS AND ENGLISH MEN

DANIEL CHESTER (UNITED KINGDOM 2010, 4:42 MINS)
A quintessential British summers day out. Picnics, Spitfires, real ale, naps and some good old fashioned patriotism. For me it is always important to make a film that has a strong personal connection, whether that is a family story or a social observation. ‘Mad dogs and Englishmen’ is a manifestation of my own personal feelings about what it is to be British, and the inner battle between pride and shame in its history and current politics. BIO: Daniel Chester is graduate of the Royal Collage of Art, London with master degree in Animation. He is one third of Moth animation studio. For his work, it is always important to make a film that has a strong personal connection, whether that is a family story or a social observation. Characters and scenes are often heavily based on ideas taken from his sketchbooks, trying to keep some of the immediacy and spontaneity of drawings from life and quick sketches.
