Unfortunately this video is not available on the Impakt Channel, but you can see a trailer here. A conceptual detective film against the backdrop of a remote, modernist villa. Six characters, the set, the music, the foley, the special effects, the narrator and the writer fight to gain control of the plot. BIO: Beatrice Gibson is an artist and filmmaker based in London. Her films explore the utterances the make up people and place. Influenced by avant-garde musical composition, graphic notation and open scores, Gibson’s scripts are often developed collectively with her subjects through open ended structures. The resulting films, meticulous and formal portraits of landscapes and the voices that inhabit them, work to complicate the notion of the document. A necessary music made in collaboration with Alex Waterman, won the Tiger Award for best short at the Rotterdam Film Festival in 2009. Recent solo exhibitions include: Beatrice Gibson, The Tiger’s Mind, Kunstlerhaus Stuttgart, 2011, The Future’s Getting Old Like The Rest Of Us, Serpentine Gallery, 2010. She has shown at numerous festivals including The Rotterdam International Film Festival, Images Toronto, Courtisane Festival Ghent, Migrating Forms New York, The Chicago Underground Film festival, Hors Piste at the Pompidou, Paris and CPH DOX, Copenhagen. Gibson is currently working on a new film, co-commissioned by The Showroom London, and CAC Bretigny. Her films are distributed by LUX, London and Argos, Belgium.
