The Truth Will Set you Free

Ben Judd (U.K 2005, 11:08 Mins)
The Truth Will Set You Free uses the words of preachers from Speakers’ Corner in Hyde Park and central London, whom Judd filmed for several months. After isolating key phrases, he supplied sections of the texts to actors and musicians, who then performed on stage or in the street. Judd filmed these performances, confusing his roles as voyeur and participant. Bio: Ben Judd (born 1970) is a British artist, currently living and working in London. He completed an MA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths College in 1997. Judd has exhibited widely in the UK and abroad, including group exhibitions JAM: Tokyo London, Tokyo Opera City Gallery, Tokyo and The Barbican Centre, London; The Galleries Show, Royal Academy, London; Strangers: The First ICP Triennial of Photography and Video, International Center of Photography, New York; Impakt Festival, Utrecht, The Netherlands; Social Creatures, Sprengel Museum, Hannover, Germany; Seeing is Believing, The Photographers’ Gallery, London; Whitstable Biennale, UK.
