Part of Between Heaven And EarthL'Astromer

(France, 1996, 16 mm, 5:00)
L’Astromer is a convergence of uncomplicated motifs (a starry sky, a clock, a dancer and her multiple reflections) which all emerge from each other in ingenious ways. It’s an enchanting photo-animation, made according to procedures developed by Man Ray. Objects are placed onto photographic paper, moved about and exposed directly to light, which results in white silhouettes on a black background. The soundtrack is composed of the sounds of a clock, opera singing and the chirping of crickets.
