Associative cut-out animation in which a variety of materials and objects are placed on top of each other and moved around. These include photographs, toys, paper, cardboard, needles and thread. There are sequence inspired by Japanese shadow-puppet techniques which are doubly-lit giving the cut-outs an extra dimension. The life of a woman in farming country is told with photographs. She stares dreamily into the camera. Japanses music and a map of the world hint at her journey by boat to… Rice paper appears in the image, as do new characters and challenges. ‘Enlightened’, she returns to more familiar surroundings.
