It is not possible to ascertain the age of the images of the domestic environment which Stephen Connolly uses in this film, Perhaps they were recorded at the end of the last century when many households whimsically held seances to try and make contact with the dead. Perhaps they actually date from the present, where the spiritual has had to make place for the television which helps us to escape time and space from within our very own living rooms. The question is: do the mass-media provide us with apparitions that are as omyangible as those spirits at the time of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle?
