‘Monifestoon’ is an hommage to the latent subversiveness of cartoons. The consumerism and individualistic ideologies in American cartoon take second place to a more important lesson – that of the ‘prankster in many cartoon characters as they mock, outwit and ultimately defeat their more powerful adversaries. Brute strength and heavy artillery are no match for wit and humour, and justice always prevails. In ‘Manifestoon’ the image of Mickey Mouse running around the globe has new meaning in the current mediascape in which Disney now owns one of the largest media empires in the world.
