For the opening of the Impakt Festival 2000, Japanese sound artist Ryoji Ikeda will perform on a pontoon in the Oude Gracht canal by the Stadhuisbrug. Ikeda’s music is characterized by the use of extreme frequencies. With very high and very low tones, he manages to turn sound into an almost physical experience. A pallet of pure electronic sounds enriches his music with an elusive beauty.
