sub.club #9 with TV Victor/Tikiman with Scion
6 April 2001
€15
The boundaries of Berlin techno were explored in a sub.club evening presented by Impakt at Theater Kikker on 6th March, 2001 with performances from TV Victor and Tikiman with Scion.
TV Victor
The most recent CD by TV Victor, released on the label of the legendary underground techno club Tresor and featuring contributions from Maurizio of Basic Channel, showcases extremely minimal techno with shifting rhythms and a mysterious, dark undercurrent that continuously holds the listener’s attention.
Tikiman and Scion
Tikiman, a singer born in the Caribbean islands, has opened for numerous reggae greats. Now based in Berlin, he works with Scion, known from the Chain Reaction label and the Hard Wax store. Their dub-techno, techno infused with languid, ultra-low rhythms and weird sound effects, has affinities with the music of Burnt Friedman and Pole. Scion’s sound effects provide the bed for Tikiman’s Jamaican toasting.
