Ikeda works as a composer for the dance company dumb Type, yet he is mainly known as a solo artist who performs live and creates installation. Ikeda’s music is characterised by its use of extreme frequencies, being either very high or very low tones, as well as a strict minimalism. His music is shot through with a beauty that, due to its palette of pure electronic sounds, has and elusive quality. In 2000, Ikea opened the IMPAKT Festival with a notorious concert on a pontoon in the Oudegracht. In 2001, the audience can immerse themselves in the sound installation “Matriculates (for container)”, a complete experience.
