Breaking up consists of six linear narratives relating to an encounter of two men in a hotel room who are meeting for the very last time. Although the narrator’s voice stays the same, their separation is told from two different perspectives. Each story line is connected to an object in the hotel room. The first man gives three accounts of the event at hand, while the other one gives three accounts of the way he has arranged his life and the effects of the present situation. Breaking Up mixes a complex whole of images and story lines of abstract and figurative images. Moving images of the room are linked to the objects singled out and abstracted from the environment. A suggestive psychological room is being opposed to the several representations of this room in reality.
