HIPHOP TRANSFORMATIONS
PUSH BUTTON OBJECTS & GCTTCATT & JANEK SCHAEFER
From the turntable to the sampler, from the street to the club, from Miami to Melbourne, with a wide range of artists this evening maps out transformations that Hip Hop has undergone over the past years.
London’s Janek Schaefer builds superpowered two- and three-armed turntables and uses them live to create an immersive sound atmosphere. GcttCat, Australian Martin Ng and Austrian Matias Gmachi push turntablism to its jagged edge in sync with their video show entitled Death to Club Culture. Miami’s Edgar Fabrinas, better known as Push Button Objects, has created waves with his own mixture of New York-style underground hiphop, catchy melodies and challenging sound manipulation. Visuals for Push Button Objects will be provided by local Arthur Ivens.
