SWEET ELECTRONICS

MURCOF & HRVATSKI & GREG DAVIS

2 November 2002
21:00

Location: De Helling
VISUALS: BAS VAN KOOLWIJK, MURCOF

In contrast with Friday’s Schizophrenic Sounds, this Saturday evening program focuses on electronic music which is just as complex, but with a sweet side.

American Greg Davis may well have invented the new genre of ‘laptop folk’ by blending jazz and rock guitar styles with digital processing. On the flipside is Keith Fullerton Whitman, aka Hrvatski, for whom little is impossible: wild breaks, quirky melodics and dense sonic forests are what he does best. For this evening, Davis and Hrvatski will each preform solo before teaming up for a joint set alongside the live video disturbances of Bas van Koolwijk. Following up is Murcof, the latest project by Tijuana-based Fernando Corona, who works primarily with orchestral samples processed into lush atmospheres and beat-driven landscapes. Murcof will be accompanied by his own visuals.
