NEW SCANDINAVIAN CONVERSATIONS

THE IDEALIST (Sweden) & JOHANNES HELDEN (Sweden)
The Idealist is Joachim Nordwall, the head of the Swedish music label iDEAL. He has been collaborating for about ten years in various experimental electronic projects such as Alvars Orkerster, Kid Commando and Skull Defects. The Idealist is his first solo project and brings warm, organic and atmospheric music. At the Impakt Festival, Nordwall will enter into a dialogue with images by his compatriot Johannes Helden: www.johanneshelden.com

ALOG (Norway)
Alog consists of Espen Sommer Eide and Dag-Are Haugun, two Norwegians who understand thoroughly how keep the genre of electronics fascinating in the twenty-first century. The key to their success is merging acoustic instruments seamlessly with the computer. On their latest album, reissued by the leading label Rune Grammofon, they use less digital manipulation and include a growing number of direct unprocessed recordings. The American indie music website Pitchfork wrote about them: “Each Alog track is its own small world with its own internal logic, and Miniatures collects nine good ones without a single dud. An excellent record.”

HENRIK RYLANDER (Sweden)
Rylander can boast an impressive CV as a visual artist and musician. Nevertheless, his works have a roughness you would rather expect from some American noise underground kids. His heavy, hypnotic recordings are unprocessed and raw but have a great rhythmic agility nevertheless. On his latest album, entitled Traditional Arrangements of Feedback, he transforms feedback sounds into compelling and powerful techno.
