Monitoring the Dordtselaan for Maximum Peace of Mind is een film over het nihilisme van een transparante samenleving. For one year Klaas van Gorkum and Iratxe Jaio have been recording the daily life in the Dordtselaan, the street where they have been living and one of the so-called ‘hotspots’ of  Rotterdam. ‘Monitoring the Dordtselaan for Maximum Peace of Mind’ is a movie about the nihilism of a transparent society.

A film about film. “I walk in my head and I am happy that film does not need to contain anything permanent. I can lead myself from frame to frame and I am not obliged to comprehend. Film is a simple game of make-believe. If a bird whistles, it does so because it opens its mouth. But a film is completely directed.

All Wrong

A film made entirely out of audiovisual material downloaded from the internet. Gabriel Lester didn’t use any additional sound, film or video equipment but relied on Google, Alta Vista and Yahoo Image and Video Search Engines.
