Couch. Club: Hans Op de Beeck
Impakt frequently invites artists to compile a film program of their own. This time, we invited the Flemish visual artist and filmmaker Hans Op de Beeck. Op de Beeck’s work is quite varied, but there are a number of recurring themes that can be identified: the estrangement of nocturnal or desolate urban landscapes, the use of meticulous scale models and the poignant observations of human behaviour. Since he left the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam, his career has skyrocketed. In 2001, he won the Belgian Prix Jeune Peinture Belge. This year, he was awarded the Antwerp Prijs Eugène Baie 2003-2005. Currently, he is in fourth place in the top hundred of the Dutch art magazine Kunstbeeld. For Impakt, Hans Op de Beeck has compiled two programs with a selection from his own works. In the couch.club he will talk about his work.
In the couch.club Hans Op de Beeck will talk about his ideas. He will be interviewed by Robbert Roos and he will show films and film fragments that are somehow related to his approach.
