MU & IMPAKT PRESENT: ROBOTICS & MORE

22 March 2012
— 23 March 2012
14:00 — 18:00

Location: IMPAKT Centre for Media Culture

On March 22nd and 23rd, Mu and Impakt are joining forces for a collaborative workshop. This two day class is an introduction to robotics and digital fabrication, hosted by Mu resident artist duo Varvara Guljajeva and Mar Canet Sola. Amongst the used techniques are Arduino and laser cutting, in order to create your own hybrid object.

The workshop will kick off at Impakt Headquarters on Thursday 22 March, by exploring Arduino technology – an easy-to-use open source platform known for its many interactive and artistic possibilities. Starting from the perspective of motion and behavior, Guljajeva and Canet Sola will introduce participants to different kinds of motors and encourage them to create kinetic objects.

Friday 23 March, the second day of the workshop, located at Sectie-C (Eindhoven), is dedicated to laser cutting and how this technique can be applied in robotic art. During this session, the participants are able to take their kinetic objects to the next level and digitally fabricate actual body parts for their moving feature.

To apply for the  Robotics & More workshop, send a message to muandmore[at]mu[dot]nl – including your name, phone number and a short bio (student/working as…). Be quick, as places are limited!

Please note that this is a 2-day workshop, taking place (respectively) in Utrecht and in Eindhoven. Participants are expected to bring their own laptop and join the workshop on both days.
