Leading up to this year’s festival Impakt organises the Dutch tour of The Pervert’s Guide to Ideology.

The new film by Sophie Fiennes and Slovenian cultural philosopher Slavoj Žižek perfectly fits the theme of this years Impakt Festival: Capitalism Catch-22. The Impakt Festival 2013 (30 October – 3 November) focuses on the economic crisis and the capitalist system.

In The Pervert’s Guide to Ideology Fiennes and  Žižek discuss capitalism and other important ideologies of the past century, according to scenes from significant works of our film history. Žižek demonstrates how key scenes from big blockbusters carry the ideological echo of big political movements characteristic of the twentieth century, such as capitalism, fascism and communism.
