GAME OVER: KASPAROV AND THE MACHINE (JAYANTI, 2003)
Come and join us for the last Impakt Film Club screening of this year! We’ll be closing this season with Vikram Jayanti’s 2003 documentary film Game Over: Kasparov and the Machine. The film will be introduced by Impakt Festival 2014 curator A.E. Benenson (NY). The introduction as well as the discussions after the screening will be in English.

About the film:
Game Over: Kasparov and the Machine is a 2003 documentary film by Vikram Jayanti about the match between Garry Kasparov, the highest rated chess player in history (at the time) and Deep Blue, a chess-playing computer created by IBM. This documentary delves into themes such as the psychological aspects of the game, paranoia surrounding it and suspicions that have arisen around IBM’s true tactics.
About A.E. Benenson
A.E. Benenson is a writer and curator based in New York and the head curator of Impakt’s 2014 festival. Through essays, artist monographs, lectures and exhibitions, he has explored contemporary revisions of art and history through network theory, media studies, and the politics of digital culture. He is currently a curatorial resident for the 2014/15 season at 221A in Vancouver and associate curator at the Artist’s Institute in New York City.
