AUTHENTICITY?

During this pre-festival event Barbara Cueto and Bas Hendrikx, the curators of the Impakt Festival 2016, will look into the ways in which authenticity has become a recurring value in all aspects of our life, from work to leisure, from private to public. A panel discussion will take place with Britta Thie and Bruno Zhu, and Nora Turato will present a performance in the Koepelzaal of Het Huis Utrecht.
Nora Turato’s work consists of spoken word performances. Like the software on an iphone, parts of her performance are updated after each public performance, ultimately ending up as something entirely new.
Bruno Zhu is an artist living and working in Amsterdam. He uses photography and makes books as tools to reassess narrative systems and the sterility of virtual profiles.
Transatlantics by Britta Thie is a six-episode webseries which looks into concepts of the self in times of global developments in digital technology. Bruno Zhu and Britta Thie share an interest in longing and belonging. Both artists will discuss the role that virtual presentation and authenticity plays in their work. After the discussion an outtake of Transatlantics will be screened.
Impakt commissioned Benjamin Forster for a new work: it takes the autograph, the oldest means of authentication, as the starting point for a digital work that runs on www.impakt.nl
