IMPAKT TV episode #9: Thursday 20:30
With Bart Rutten and Johan Grimonprez
In the first part of this IMPAKT TV episode, Bart Rutten will guide us through the concept of the festival exhibition Modern Love (or Love in the Age of Cold Intimacies), on view at the IMPAKT [Centre for Media Culture] and the Centraal Museum from 3 November 2021 till 6 February 2022.
In the second part of the episode, we will screen Every day words disappear: Michael Hardt on the Politics of Love (2016), a film by Johan Grimonprez. In 1515 Machiavelli stated that it would be better for the Prince to be feared, than loved. Some 500 years later, Michael Hardt, political philosopher and co-author of Empire, Multitude and Commonwealth, asks what it would mean to base a political system on love, rather than on fear. The screening is followed by a conversation with Johan Grimonprez.
This episode is hosted by Chris Keulemans.
