Lift Off
Presented by HKU Fine Art
On view 24.06 - 09.07
Open Thur. - Sat. 13:00-17:00
The exhibition Lift Off offers a cross section of artistic perspectives from the first professional years of the 2020 and 2021 HKU Fine Arts alumni, showing the work of 22 artists on four locations in Utrecht’s city centre. Through the richness and diversity of practices, Lift Off is no grand exhibition or retrospective, but instead is comprised of four presentations with the meeting between audience and artwork at their core, offering insights into the work and practice of these young artists and the way in which they relate to the world of today.
At IMPAKT, contemporary sculpture will be presented in many shapes, forms, and subjects. As each of them appears as an embodied artistic vision, the work of Maya Berkhof, Bas Oussoren, Elise van Staveren, Megan Auður, and Hannah Meijer can individually be encountered in the exhibition space of IMPAKT. Not unlike an old treasure room, their sculptural works are stored here for the duration of Lift Off, inviting visitors for closer inspection.
The opening is on Friday 24th of June this starts at 15:30 at the Centraal Museum (entrance Nicolaasdwarsstraat 14, limited access), followed by a tour of the various locations, ending with a drink at 19:00 in AG (unlimited access).
To celebrate the opening of Lift Off, 2021 alumni Monika Nowak was invited to create a performative piece that takes place at all four locations of Lift Off. At all of the locations, there is opportunity to keep on discovering to find the traces and remains of this performance.
