Johannes Gierlinger

Johannes Gierlinger (Austria) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. In his work he engages with history, memory and resistance, their forms of representation and spaces of possibilities. He explores readings, doubts and possible future images in the form of essayistic works. His work has been shown at Austrian and international film festivals and institutions, including Visions Du Réel Nyon, Belvedere21 Vienna, Werkleitz Center for Media Art, CPH:DOX, Ifa Galerie Stuttgart, Edinburgh IFF, Dokufest Prizren, FIC Valdivia, Das Weisse Haus, Rotor Graz, Mumok Cinema, and Diagonale Graz. Gierlinger lives and works in Vienna.
