CODE panel at Ars Electronica
Reclaiming Digital Agency
From 7 to 11 September 2022, Linz will once again host a “Festival for Art, Technology and Society” where participants from science, business, the creative and art scenes from the local region and around the world will contribute their perspectives. As part of Ars Electronica’s public programme, IMPAKT has been invited to organise a hybrid panel, connecting onsite and online audiences and speakers around the international programme CODE 2022: Reclaiming Digital Agency. On Thursday 8 September at 16:30h, you can join the discussion onsite at Kepler’s Garden in Linz or online at Planet IMPAKT (free livestream).
- To join in Linz you need a valid Ars Electronica ticket
- To join online, register for free here
CODE addresses our lack of agency over the digital platforms and devices we are so dependent on, and how Big Tech companies and governments violate or neglect our digital rights. In this panel artists and other participants will present their thought-provoking or subversive projects addressing themes like surveillance, the use of artificial intelligence, face recognition technologies and the power of lobbyists.
The projects presented in CODE call on politicians and policymakers to take action, inform themselves, protect our rights, curb the power of Big Tech and set better ethical standards for the use of technology. During the panel at Ars Electronica CODE participants will present the results of their 3-month programme – they will be present in Linz as well as connected online from the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium.
