Fanfictional Politics

Pedro Gossler (2022)

What happens when politics becomes a form of fandom? Fanfictional Politics is a video essay on how speculation, roleplay, and myth-making shape collective belief online. Taking inspiration from Walter Benjamin’s Arcades Project, the work adopts montage to mirror the fractured logic of conspiracy. Here, fragments are linked by the thinnest strands of causality, dissolving the boundary between fact and fiction and revealing how political myths are co-authored in real time by online crowds.
