Aqua_forensic: Underwater Interception of Biotweaking in Aquatocene
Slovenia / Austria / Croatia , 2018
Video documentation
Aqua_forensic illuminates the invisible anthropogenic pollutants in our waters, the oceans, seas and rivers on our planet. These “monsters” are the pharmaceutical and chemical residues of human consumption and production. The project combines art, science and citizen science in a “hunt for a phantom” and opens the discussion about our solidarity and empathy with the parts of our aquatic environment that are beyond human perception. It’s a voyage into the relationship between the microbial seas and humans who are ’aquaforming’ the water habitats all around the planet. The question is: How do the oceans feel our impact?
This project is supported through an EMAP/EMARE artists’ residency at the Ars Electronica Center in Linz (Austria) with support of the Creative Europe Culture Programme of the European Union.
