LETTING GO

Yinzk (2022)

The final track of Yinzk’s 2021 album Mother Universe, Letting Go, prepares the listener to surrender to a greater force. As the recurring mantra — “letting go of behaviour / becoming my saviour / bittersweet flavour / everything I gave her” — rises and fades throughout the song, it idealizes and enacts the act of relinquishing autonomy for a sacred purpose. The track evokes a state of release — a moment where the need to construct and maintain one’s identity within the confines of socially reinforced individualism is finally abandoned.

Yinzk

― Artist

Yinzk (1998, NL) is a hyper-sentient artist, centring both the body’s senses and one’s feelings. They translate delicate themes such as collectivity, selfhood, the body and societal conditions into cathartic artworks. Their work is coloured by a commitment to collaboration and accessibility, connecting various disciplines and experiences. Yinzk intersects the sacred with the heart and the fantastical with the real in their films, music and performances. Prioritising the extensive portrayal of feelings over words, their body of work reflects their desire to create immersive, personal experiences - ever yearning for the full circle.
