Meditative Cohabitation

Studio Above&Below / Perry-James Sugden and Daria Jelonek, in Collaboration With Yau Fan

2022, Audiovisual artwork

How can human and non-human species cohabitate today and in the future? This is the central question in this work by Studio Above&Below. Meditative Cohabitation translates communication signals and real-time environmental data into an Audiovisual artwork, and, in doing this, explores interspecies communication within the Brussels ecosystem. Due to urbanisation and industrialisation there is less and less room for animals and plants. If humans took a collective step back, other species could take a healthy step forward. How can we allow more space for these non-human cohabitants?

Meditative Cohabitation is realized with the support of Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, through the European Media Art Platform, and the support of iMAL, Art Center for Digital Cultures & Technology.
