David Haines’ work shows the power of drawing in the digital age. As a starting point for his work, he uses images gathered on social media, internet chat rooms and adult sites. Through highly detailed pencil drawings he explores digital habits, behaviours and identities in online communities and on dating platforms. In the large drawing Your Fluffer the moiré pattern (the matrix of the printed image) in the background is set against drawings of screens and cables of a much finer definition where graphite and the grain of the paper tangle in a tight net of information.
