Need to disappear from Facebook or Twitter? Now you can scrub yourself from the Internet. The Web 2.0 Suicide Machine is a nifty service that purges your online presence from these all-consuming social networks.
Since its December 19 launch, Suicide Machine has assisted more than 5,800 virtual deaths, severing more than 600,500 friendships on Facebook and removing some 1,276,000 tweets from Twitter. Once you hand over your log-in details and click Commit, the program will methodically delete your info — Twitter tweets, MySpace contacts, Facebook friends and LinkedIn connections.
Danja Vasiliev― Artist
Danja Vasiliev is a Critical Engineer born in Saint-Petersburg, currently living and working between Berlin and New York. Vasiliev studies Systems and Networks through anti-disciplinary experimentation with hardware, firmware and software. Using computational platforms Danja engages in examination and exploitation of System and Network paradigms in both the physical and digital realms. Based on these findings, Vasiliev creates and exhibits works of Critical Engineering. Since 1999 Danja Vasiliev has been involved in computer-technology events, media-art exhibitions and seminars around the world. He has received a number of awards and mentions at Ars Electronica, Japan Media Art Festival, and Transmediale, among others.
Gordan Savičić― Artist
Gordan Savičić is a creative technologist, artist and designer whose work investigates the relationship between people, networks and interfaces. He has a background in media art and visual communication, and he has been active within the fields of academic research, teaching and design industry. His preferred location is the Internet spending his weekends at localhost.
Walter Langelaar― Artist
Walter Langelaar is an artist and subcultural activist from the Netherlands. His work in media arts and design questions our digitally networked cultures and infrastructure in varying dimensions through sculpture, installation, online performance and critical intervention. Walter’s work is shown in numerous venues across the European and international media arts scene such as transmediale and CTM, Videotage, Medialab Prado, DEAF and v2, FILE Festival, Ars Electronica, iMAL, Montevideo/NiMK, Piksel.no, and in more traditional art institutes such as MuseumsQuartier Vienna, the Hammer Museum, Dokumenta, Jeu de Paume, Casino Luxembourg and Kunsthallen Nikolaj.
