Shot over two years, Colossal Youth is Costa’s third film shot with the people from the neighbourhood of Fontainhas. His filmmaking ventured further into uncharted territory with the introduction of Ventura, an ageing Cape Verdean migrant who wanders the memories, houses and streets of the now-demolished Fontainhas.
