Alan Currall

United Kingdom 1995, 6 minutes 30 seconds

Alan Currall’s artistic interests lie in investigating human nature, dealing with questions of belief and identity, and the limitations of our capacity to understand these concepts. He is best known for his performance to camera video works, often comprising simple actions or monologues. In Word Processing, Currall instructs a microchip how to design and print a text document: “Right then. Now, what I want you to do is: Every time I press down on the keyboard, on one of the letters on the keyboard, I want you to put that letter up on the screen in front of me. Okay?”
