The IMPAKT Festival 1994, 'Experiment Art' explored notions and aesthetics of Experimental Art in America post the war. The program investigated the emerging characteristics of cinema, music, installations, and ideologies that grew outside the scene of European Avantgarde cinema and art, influenced by, yet growing and developing a language of its own parallel to the commercial art industry of the time.

The festival program included sub-themes like American Avantgarde 1921-1944, Pixel Vision and The Medial Environment amongst others. These themes were addressed through films and video, music, installations, and contributions by a diverse range of artists.
