IMPAKT is happy to welcome the Bureau of Melodramatic Research (Alina Popa and Irina Gheorghe). The IMPAKT Festival 2013: Capitalism Catch-22 (30 October to 3 Novmber) will feature the exhibition To The Reader, curated by Benjamin Fallon, in BAK, basis voor actuele kunst, Utrecht.

Prior to the IMPAKT Festival 2013 exhibition opening, the Bureau of Melodramatic Research will prepare their contribution to To the Reader within an artist residency at IMPAKT: the project and performance lecture Lovegold.

Love is the new gold. Love standard instead of gold standard. The alchemical imperative of capitalism.

A lecture-performance plotting an entangled narrative of gold, alchemy and love within late capitalism. The Bureau of Melodramatic Research (Irina Gheorghe and Alina Popa) will expand on their research into the translation of material into discourse through processes of abstraction.
