EMARE residency 2021: UPDATE #6
Emotionally working through the political takeover in Poland.
Despite the harsh weather conditions that complicated the shooting process of Liliana Pikorska (Zeic) work, the filming process for “Gently running downwards” is finished!
The body can quickly show side-effects of long-standing physical constraint. But what happens with the constrained mind and emotions? In this project, the artist works with captioning the effects of prolonged stress due to the political take over of the far-right party in Poland, causing the outburst of social divide and hatred.
The next steps on this journey include the material selection, editing and working on audio materials. We are excitedly looking forward to the upcoming updates and are able to share a sneak peek of the editing process!
“Gently running downwards” is a project by Liliana Piskorska (Zeic) which is part of the 2021 EMARE residency programme of the European Media Art Platform (EMAP). It focuses on the multiplicity of events and ideas that feed the post-truth, radical right conspiracy discourse of “cultural Marxism.” The artist also explores emotions and body reactions resulting from prolonged minority stress experienced by stigmatised and discriminated communities.
EMARE is a collaboration that brings together 11 European Media Art organizations, co-produced by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union. The EMARE programme offers yearly residencies to artists working in the fields of digital media. Read more about EMARE here: here
