Cinema pour l’oreille
Cinema pour l’oreille is an evening filled with music and sound art that appeals to the listener’s imagination. The cinematic power of sound is a source of inspiration for many artists. For once, this Impakt Event is not centered on visuals; the soundtrack takes center stage.
The Dutch artist Boca Raton will perform a live rendition of his quadraphonic sound piece Parts Three. Scottish filmmaker Matt Hulse will give a presentation of his project The Audible Picture Show, featuring contributions from, among others, the Brothers Quay and Joost van Veen. In addition, an excerpt from the audio work Villa Medici Walk by Canadian artist Janet Cardiff will be played.
The evening will conclude with a performance by German producer, artist, and poet AGF (Antye Greie). Her music is warm and atmospheric, perhaps best described as “poetronica.” She is part of the duo Laub and has collaborated extensively with Vladislav Delay. Her major sources of inspiration include Tricky, Artful Dodger, Massive Attack, and Björk. Antye Greie was born in communist East Germany. The crisis of that era made music an outlet for her, and ever since she has been creating her own universe through electronic music. This universe feels intimate and poetic thanks to the language spoken within it—a language of “voice, samples, MPC Akai 2000 XL, Logic!” Her second CD, Westernization Completed, has now been released on the label Orthlorng Musork.
The evening promises to be not only musically engaging, but also gastronomically interesting. The concerts will be interspersed with a special three-course dinner, composed and presented by Patrick Faas.
