Curatorial Support & Research

For this internship position, you need to have substantial knowledge about contemporary art, digital culture, developments in media and technology, and the topics IMPAKT is addressing. To qualify for this position, you need to be an ambitious and motivated intern. If you see curation as your future profession but also as your favourite pastime, and if you visit art exhibitions or festivals dealing with art and technology regularly, you might be qualified for this position.

IMPAKT [Centre for Media Culture] works with internal and external curators to create its yearly programme and the festival. As an intern focusing on Curatorial Support & Research, you will directly assist the curators in their work and support the development and research into new programmes and formats.

Your core tasks will include supporting the development of new programmes, researching the content, preparing the programmes for production and assisting with researching funding opportunities.

The intern supports the research for specific partner institutions to collaborate with and for special funds that can support programmes aimed at diversity and at the participation of artists from specific regions or with specific backgrounds.

The intern also supports the PR-team with the development and execution of programmes, campaigns and activities that bring the IMPAKT programme to a wider, more varied and diverse audience, and that reaches out to specific target groups.

This position allows the intern to be directly involved in the research and development process of new programmes and projects within IMPAKT, and offers a great chance for interns to develop their curatorial experience and vision. Most of the work consists of assisting the artistic director, the festival curators and the other curators IMPAKT works with.

We expect our interns to have a certain amount of knowledge and ideally some experience within the field. We require a motivated and skilled person with a solid knowledge of new media, digital culture and the issues that are central to IMPAKT’s mission and focus. Academic working level is required but needs to be combined with a hands-on attitude.

At IMPAKT, we consider our interns as a vital part of the team. We expect interns to be able to enthusiastically and independently work on their tasks, to be able to look ahead and be assertive in their work. In turn, we provide a diverse and exciting internship where you are fully integrated into the team and can receive solid guidance to make your internship a great addition to your CV and a great way to gain experience working in the cultural field.
