S+T+ARTS BUEN-TEK
The Selected artists
We are excited to share the results of the S+T+ARTS Buen-TEK Open Call! Ten promising projects have been selected from 374 submissions. Jimmy Carrillo (Territory, Sound, and Shared Memory) and Aniara Rodado (Yuca Brava) will develop their projects in collaboration with IMPAKT and partners ATA – Alta Tecnología Andina (Lima, Peru) and MAMA – Más Arte Más Acción (Chocó, Colombia).
How can ancient wisdom merge with new technologies to shape a sustainable future? Over the next 18 months, artists, researchers, cultural institutions, and communities in South America and Europe will collaborate within the S+T+ARTS Buen-TEK programme to explore these questions in artistic projects. Inspired by Buen Vivir – living in reciprocity with nature, and Lo-TEK – place-based ecological knowledge and resilience (Julia Watson) – the programme opens new perspectives on ecology, culture and technology.
Jimmy Carrillo will develop the project Territory, Sound, and Shared Memory in collaboration with Amazonian communities in Peru to create an interactive sound installation that brings together local voices, traditional ecological knowledge, and scientific data, immersing visitors in the Amazon as a living and changing ecosystem. aniara rodado’s Yuca Brava focuses on wild cassava to explore cross-species alliances, feminist science, and the agency of plants on bodies and landscapes. Yuca brava is an edible root vegetable commonly eaten in South America. It contains toxins and must be properly prepared to be edible.
The other selected projects are: Bunker for a Tropical Pixel (Tatyana Zambrano + Hernán Rodríguez), A spoonful of salt and a spoonful of sugar (Licida Vidal), OBLIVION (Javier Blanco), Direito à Sombra (Mari Nagem), El ritmo que nos conecta (Anthony Tandazo), Territory, Turminta, lo que las tormentas saben (Lorena Salas), Contra-hegemonía mágica (Aliens Institute), and microBIOMAtica (kinkinella).
